This 1923 two-story yellow brick home and reception hall features meticulously landscaped lawn and gardens and offers warmth and charm to any special
occasion.
The home was built in 1923 by Dr. Lon C. Morrison and his wife, Hattie May and was affectionately known as Maylon by three generations of the Morrison family. They derived the name by taking the middle name of Mrs. Morrsion, May, and the first name of Dr. Morrison, Lon. Upon hearing this, and after much consideration and suggestions from family and friends of what to name our facility, we knew we had to bring the original name back to the home.
Dr. Morrison, already a successful physician in Hurricane, WV, moved his thriving practice to Milton in 1917 and opened an office on Main Street. He then had the grand two-story brick home built for his family but also to attend to his patients from his home. The small room off the east side of the living room was where he tended to many in the community.
The home stayed in the Morrison family till 1999 when it was sold to Mary Price Ratrie, a WV business woman, who converted it to the TerraSalis garden center. When Mrs. Ratrie passed, the business closed the property was put up for sale. We (C & J Events, LLC) acquired it in December 2011 with a vision of making it a full service special events facility that could service a large estate. From it’s start in 1923, The Maylon House has always been destined to serve the community and the public.
There is a new place, a special place, a place that our community has needed for quite some time…
Impressive and grand, The Maylon House is a full-service, special event venue conviently located in Milton, WV. We are a place where loved ones can gather for weddings or showers, companies can convene to plan new strategies and families can celebrate special occasions. Boasting the Morrison Grand Ballroom, six parlors and beautifully landscaped grounds, we can host groups from 3-300 people. We welcome and serve intimate gatherings as well as grand galas. Not only can we host your group, we will do it with style, grace and a passion for details. Our staff will work hand in hand with you to create an unforgettable special occasion. In short, we will take care of your affair so that you can enjoy your own wedding, lead your own meeting or celebrate your own family gatherings…

Wedding Accomodations
Bridal parties may take advantage of the lovely Ladies Suite, located in the Main House, decorated and designed for brides and maids in mind when primping for that special day (complete with an in-house salon chair). As for the gents in the party, they can take advantage of their own space located in the Morrison Grand Ballroom. The Maylon House is the perfect location for grand or intimate on-site weddings as well with our meticulously manicured lawn & gardens that provide an excellent setting for any bride wishing to host an outdoor ceremony. When the I do’s have been said, let’s get the party started in the Morrison Grand Ballroom equipped with state-of-the-art sound system, dance floor and the capacity to serve 300 guests. All this and our full catering kitchen makes The Maylon House an all-inclusive wedding facility with our staff waiting to pamper you on one of the most important days of your life.

The Maylon House is 20 minutes east of Huntington and 30 minutes west of Charleston; it’s an easy drive for anyone in the Tri-State area. Take exit 28 from I-64 toward Milton, turn right onto Main Street, drive approximately 1.5 miles and location is on the left.
